
Tuskegee University Enhances Global Learning Opportunities
From October 29-31, 2023, USHCA Advisor Dr. Lou Swanson and Program Associate Jason Conley attended the 81st Annual Professional Agricultural Workers Conference (PAWC) organized by Tuskegee University to foster partnerships between HBCU’s and Chinese agricultural universities.
PAWC is a forum that values and promotes equal opportunity and equitable access to information and technology for the sustainable development of communities and natural resources.
For the first time in its long history, PAWC invited Chinese guests to this conference to explore opportunities in international agriculture education collaboration. Representatives from the Chinese Embassy’s Education Section traveled from Washington D.C. to attend. Tuskegee University leadership and the Chinese Embassy representatives discussed Tuskegee University’s interest in working with universities in China and the potential of academic partnerships during a private meeting facilitated by USHCA. After a productive dialogue, foundations were laid for future collaborations including potential student exchanges.Â

USHCA Hosts Henan Delegation in St. Louis
On September 14th, 2023, USHCA leadership joined the U.S. Soybean Export Council, a USHCA member organization, to welcome a high-level, six-member delegation from Henan Province, often referred to as “the Breadbasket of China.”

Globalization of RMB & The Future of International Trade
USHCA is excited to bring two leading experts Diana Choyleva, Chief Economist at Enodo Economics, and David Dollar, Senior Fellow for Foreign Policy – John L. Thornton China Center at the Brookings Institute, to speak about their views on the outlook and the timing of such a roll out and the globalization of RMB’s impact on international trade—especially agricultural trade—and how the other countries, including the U.S., may counter.

USHCA Representatives Speak at Missouri Boys and Girls State Youth Conference
On Wednesday, June 28th, 2023, USHCA Chairman & President, Bob Holden, and Program Associate, Ellen Wright, joined guest speakers USHCA Board Member, Yawei Liu, and Director of Next Generation Programs at NCUSCR, Nitai Deitel, in addressing the 2023 Missouri Girls State and Boys State International Affairs Class.

USHCA Hosts Jiangsu and Nanjing Delegations in St. Louis
On Tuesday, May 23rd, 2023, USHCA joined with the St. Louis-Nanjing Sister Cities Committee and the World Trade Center St. Louis to welcome a delegation from Jiangsu Province, which comprised of prominent government officials and business leaders. Their visit aimed to further foster the cultural and economic exchange opportunities that have flourished over the 44 years since the establishment of the sister city relationship between Jiangsu’s capital of Nanjing and St. Louis.

USHCA Hosts Hubei Delegation in St. Louis
On Wednesday, March 1st, 2023, USHCA had the honor of hosting a delegation from Hubei in St. Louis, Missouri. The delegation, led by Director General Zhang Xiaomei of the Hubei Province’s Foreign Affairs Office, toured two Heartland cities during their visit to the U.S., to explore opportunities for collaboration around ecological protection, biodiversity, flood control, transportation, tourism, and cultural exchange.
During their visit, USHCA signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the delegation, the first of its kind for Yangtze River-Mississippi River collaboration.
