Agricultural Transformations in China and its Global Trade Implications

Following our previous event , U.S. China Trade & Future of Agriculture in the Heartland, we’ve invited Dr. Wendong Zhang, Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at Iowa State University, to discuss the agricultural policies China has put forth and their global trade implications.

Zhang, whose research seeks to understand U.S. farmland marketing and cultural water preservation and Chinese agriculture, will review some of the long-term changes, particularly in Chinese agricultural markets and policies, that would have a major impact on the agricultural industry. Enjoy this replay to hear discussions on Chinese policies that are likely to have large impacts such as rural land reform, rising per-capita meat consumption, modernization of the livestock industry post-ASF, crop insurance, and developing futures markets that are increasingly like the U.S.

This event is part of USHCA’s ongoing series, The Way Forward, where we discuss different ideas and initiatives used by the U.S. and China and how they can be applied to the Heartland region.
