Three members of the USHCA’s leadership had the honor to be invited to a small “old friends” reception to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping in San Francisco on November 18, 2023, the same day that President Biden and President Xi met on the sidelines of the APEC meetings. Following that small gathering, the USHCA representatives then joined close to 200 guests from around the U.S. to attend an exclusive dinner at which President Xi delivered a significant speech in which he shared China’s openness to cooperation and posed a crucial question: “Are we partners or are we adversaries?”

USHCA Attends The Carter Center Forum Honoring President Jimmy Carter

On January 9th and 10th, 2024, USHCA representatives attended the Forum in Honor of Jimmy Carter & the 45th Anniversary of U.S.-China Relations. The Carter Center hosted this event to commemorate the leadership and foresight of President Jimmy Carter who worked in partnership with Vice Premier Deng Xiaoping to reestablish ties between the U.S. and China in 1979.

On December 14th, 2023, USHCA hosted the virtual event “The Importance of Student Interchange in a Post-COVID World,” co-hosted by International Student Conferences.

This student event featured unique insights from students in our community as well as select perspectives from representatives in international education policy to facilitate dialogue on the realities of U.S.-China student interchange. The Role of Chinese Students in America

On December 5, 2023, USCET hosted a webinar on The Role of Chinese Students in America in partnership with USHCA. This event showcased four distinguished Americans, including USHCA Executive Director Min Fan, who began their journey in the U.S. as international students from China, alongside event host USCET President Madelyn Ross. The discussion highlighted themes that emerged from USCET’s recently published report, Three Decades of Chinese Students in America, 1991-2021, developed in partnership with the China Data Lab of the UC San Diego 21st  Century China Center. The panelists, who came to the U.S. in different decades, personify the contributions made by former Chinese students to their adopted country.

USHCA Hosts Hubei Delegation in Chicago

On December 4th, 2023, USHCA had the honor of hosting a delegation from Hubei in Chicago, Illinois. The delegation, led by Director General Xiang Keqiang of the province’s Agricultural Development Center, visited the Heartland to meet with USHCA and explore opportunities for agricultural trade cooperation between the U.S. and Hubei Province.
