2020 Mayors Delegation to China

Event Postponed Until 2021

In the 40 years since US and China normalized our bi-lateral relationship in 1979, the world witnessed the rise of China in astonishment as it lifted millions of its citizens out of poverty and became the second largest economy in the world. The continued rise of China also challenged the rest of the world to re-assess our relationships with one of the oldest civilizations in the world.

But even before 1979, from the Chinese laborers who helped to build the transcontinental railroad in US, to the American Flying Tigers who fought alongside the Chinese in WWII, the people of our two countries have developed strong ties going back almost 250 years despite of the shifting political winds.

“One out of every five person in the world is Chinese.  It is important that we understand their values and their economy so that we can work together and have discussions to find areas of mutual interest…”

Mayor Jim Brainard of Carmel Indiana (Alumni, 2019 Mayors Delegation to China)

The 2020 US Mayors Delegation to China, our 2nd such delegation, is currently scheduled for September 2020.  President of our organization, former Governor of Missouri, Bob Holden will be personally leading this delegation.  This is a unique opportunity for a small group of globally minded US mayors who want to spend a focused & immersive week learning about China, exploring opportunities to work with China, and working to attract potential investors and businesses to his/her city.  You can read about last year’s delegation at this link.(please use new link to that report/Blog).
