SUMMARY:Yangtze-Mississippi Regional Dialoge
DESCRIPTION:The Yangtze River in China and Mississippi River in the U.S. are the most significant inland waterway of their respective countries. Both rivers cross a vast distance touching diverse communities and supporting major industries. Both river basin communities are experiencing similar climate change challenges such as drought\, flood\, pollution\, and many more.  \nHistorically\, the two river basin communities had some exchanges until the pandemic and growing geopolitical tension halted all dialogues. Thanks to renewed support from both countries\, interests are growing in both communities to re-engage to share best practices and test new concepts around climate resilience\, energy transition\, green economy\, climate smart agriculture\, and decarbonization. This has created a unique opportunity to advance U.S.-China subnational collaboration around climate mitigation and energy transition.  \nIn the fall of 2023\, as part of the Yangtze-Mississippi Municipality Energy Transition Exchange Project\, which U.S. Heartland China Association (USHCA) launched to promote best practice sharing between the two river basin communities\, USHCA organized a historic Heartland Mayors Delegation to China. A key engagement of this delegation in China was the Yangtze Mississippi Forum hosted by East China Normal University (ECNU) and Shanghai People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (SPAFFC) on November 7\, 2023 in Shanghai. \n  \nIf you are interested in attending\, please email contact@usheartlandchina.org
